Local Piper Recognition – Scott Williams

See below an article from Bagpipe Music about Antigonish local Scott Williams who was inducted into the Antigonish Highland Games Hall of Fame in 2013. Scott has played with and/or instructed five championship bands. He is well-respected piping judge and has written extensively on pipers and pipe bands. Scott co-organized the first Highland Games Pipe Band Tattoos and has been Official Piper of the Antigonish Highland Society since 1995.

We have just added several more tunes to our Music Library on Bagpipemusic.com. These tunes were all composed or Scott Williams from Antigonish, Nova Scotia. Scott is one of the really nice people in piping. He is also a terrific and prolific composer. Scott’s early teachers included Francis Beaton, Allan Beaton, Sandy Boyd and others. He has composed over 200 tunes and published 4 books of music – that is a huge accomplishment. Scott has earned the respect of people throughout the piping world and is regarded as an excellent teacher, pipe major and judge. He has made a huge contribution to piping in Eastern Canada and beyond. Scott’s books are available from his website and I encourage you to get them at http://www.bagpipepublishing.com. I have all 4 and enjoy glancing through them and often find wee nuggets.
